Brighton & Hove ‘Healthwalks Offer’ Beginner Courses for the New Year
Discounted courses are available for city residents wanting to Nordic walk on the free, green Healthwalks or to join the free amber/red Nordic Progression Walks run by the City Council’s Healthwalks Scheme. If this doesn’t apply to you, standard Nordic Walking for Health beginner courses are also available – more information is at Courses
BOOKING is now OPEN for four special courses running from January to April next year:
Saturdays 1.30 to 3pm
• 6-20 January & 3 February (five places left)
Fridays 11am to 12.30pm
• 2 to 23 February
Thursdays 1.30 to 3pm
• 1 to 22 March
Saturdays 2 to 3.30pm
• 7 to 28 April.
For all courses:
- bookings can be made by family groups, i.e. children aged 14 & over if accompanied by a parent or adult carer. The course is free for under 16s and half-price for those aged 16 and over.
- beginner courses to reach the ’green traffic light’ foundation level of Nordic walking technique consist, if fully booked, of four 1.5 hour sessions, all of which should be completed
- dates are rolled forward one week if more bookings are required to make a course viable to run, i.e. the start and finish dates move on a week
- extra dates are used when a session is postponed due to the weather and/or if participants extend the course to learn the higher Health and/or Fitness levels of technique beyond foundation
- applicants need to be ‘walking-fit’ to get a place (a ‘readiness to participate’ questionnaire must be completed beforehand)
- full course payment is required before or at the first session (a non-returnable deposit may be required).
