Refreshers & Restarters

Every 4 to 6 weeks, Nordic Walking for Health offers a series of different group walks for Nordic walkers of different abilities and experience – however long ago you successfully completed a course – as refresher, restarter and ‘Old Timer’ sessions.

Depending on how regularly someone Nordic walks, brushing up on technique and correcting old habits that tend to creep back in is a good thing to do every 6 to 12 months.

Beginners are also welcome to take part in ‘Been a long time’ Restarters, as these are run the same way as Taster Sessions.

Group session size is 3 to 6 people and the price is usually from £15 per person, depending on numbers. 1on2 and 1on1 sessions cost between £20 and £60 per person depending on the length of the session.

'Been a long time' Restarters

These are for beginners as well as for those whose life has been so busy since successful course completion that Nordic walking has had no chance, i.e. for those who want to try again.

Time: Approx 1.5 hours
Experience: Walking-fit beginner level
Terrain: Flat with gentle inclines on grass and/or tarmacs
Distance: 2 to 2.5 miles

'Old habits die hard' Refreshers

These are for those who have continued to Nordic walk since successfully completing a course (perhaps not as often as they’d like) and now feel that it’s time to get their technique checked out.

Time: Approx 1.5 hours
Experience: The ‘health’ level
Terrain: On and off-road with longer and/or slightly steeper inclines
Distance: About 3 miles

'Old Timer' Nordic Walks

These are for those who are Nordic walking on a regular basis. Terrain will include inclines to perfect your downhill technique as well as for reaching your aerobic zone. It may be necessary to tweak your technique depending on conditions underfoot and overhead. If possible, there will also an optional visit to a local café or pub.

Time: Approx 2 hours
Experience: The 'fitness’ level
Terrain: Circular routes, challenging in places
Distance: 5 to 6 miles
