Nordic walkers now welcome at parkrun events !
parkrun is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers two types of running events: 5k parkruns and 2k junior parkruns. In England, the 5k runs take place weekly at 9am on a Saturday. Participants are welcome to walk the route if they want to. Chrissie Wellington, Head of Participation at parkrun UK, has issued an invitation to the Nordic walking community to join parkrun – a superb project that has attracted over 700,000 members. She retired from professional sport in 2012 and remains passionate about maximising opportunities to increase physical activity for all.

Bluebell Nordic Walk this Saturday – Stanmer Woods, Brighton
The bluebells are still out !!! Another opportunity to stroll through the woods with your poles and take in the scent and the blossom … This red/amber Nordic walk will take place on Saturday 2 May from 10.30am to about 12midday starting from outside Stanmer House. The route is about 5miles/8 kilometres long featuring Highpark & Great Woods within Stanmer Park. The most challenging stretches will be amongst the bluebells along the narrow tracks often created by off-road bikes, where we’ll come across unstable terrain underfoot, including tree roots. If

2008 & 2009
Nordic Walking for Health has been actively involved in the Brighton & Hove TAKEPART International Festival of Sport & Physical Activity (a London Olympics 2012 Legacy project) since it first began in 2008. The Mayor visited the Nordic Walking for Health stall and talked to the volunteer Nordic walkers promoting Nordic walking at the day long launch event. Giving people a taste of Nordic walking at East Sussex events like this spreads the word and leads to courses happening at the different locations used by Nordic Walking for Health. These
